Creative individuals experience more nightmares and lucid dreams: A cognitive inquiry

Abstract
Lucid Dream is simply dreaming while knowing that one is dreaming (APA) and nightmare is a frightening or otherwise disturbing dream in which fear, sadness, despair, disgust, or some combination thereof forms the emotional content (APA). The ability to lucid dream and experiencing nightmares may be intertwined with an individual’s creativity level. The present research paper seeks to understand and evaluate the effect and interactions lucid dreams and nightmares have on an individual’s creativity level. Seventy-six participants belonging to the age group of 19 years to 30 years were included in the study. The participants were divided into two groups based on their frequency of recalling dreams. A quantitative research approach was employed and the data was collected with the help of questionnaires and psychological tests. Creativity was found to have an influence on various aspects and types of dreams experienced by an individual. Future studies in this area may help in uncovering unexplored territory of dreams.
