Abstract
The article presents Roman magic dolls from Upper Germany, Raetia and from the Germania Magna. Two objects from Germanic Settlement contexts are in the centre of attention. Because of the ritual peculiarity of black magic it is suggested that two Germans familiar with their magical effects, had bought these objects in the Roman province.
