Abstract
A bronze sheet pendant in the shape of a miniature shield found in the pit of a settlement outside the sanctuary on the Martberg on the Moselle indicates additional ritual activities outside the temples. The object is unique among the vast archaeological material from both sanctuary and settlement on the Martberg. Few parallels are predominantly known from the area of the Treveri as well as from further surroundings. As the object was discovered in the pit of a settlement its exact function and date cannot be determined. However, excavations of recent years repeatedly brought to light indications for ritual activities within the settlement.
