Abstract

Magdalenian Flint Artefacts from the Teufelsbrücke in Thuringia

This article presents flint artefacts from the Teufelsbrücke which belong to the collection of the Stadtmuseum Saalfeld. The Teufelsbrücke is among the Magdalenian sites in Central Germany most abundant with finds. They show attributes of the late Magdalenian period typical for this region. The question is discussed whether there is a single late Magdalenian layer of finds which was created 16 100-15 000 years ago by numerous single visits of people living in this steppe and tundra landscape shaped by rocks.
