Abstract

Medals and Decorations in the Collection of Institute of Archaeology in Iaşi (I)

The authors aim to present a first series of 13 decorations and medals awarded by the Kingdom of Romania between 1878 and 1933. They represent both civilian and military awards and entered in the numismatic collection of the Institute of Archaeology - Iasi, through various donations. These medals, although we do not know their actual owners or their deeds, bear witness of our national history in the last 150 years.

În colecţia numismatică a Institutului de Arheologie al Academiei Române, filiala Iaşi, există un bogat fond de decoraţii şi medalii, pe care intenţionăm să îl facem cunoscut, pe parcursul mai multor studii. Primul dintre acestea este dedicat unui mic lot de 13 decoraţii civile şi militare conferite de Regatul României, în perioada 1878-1933. Provenienţa exactă a pieselor, precum şi identitatea celor cărora le-au fost oferite, sunt, din păcate, necunoscute. Ceea ce ştim cu certitudine este că piesele fac parte din inventarul unor donaţii mai vechi, anterioare anului 1981, către Institutul de Arheologie din Iaşi. Prezentăm succint aceste decoraţii, aranjate în ordinea instituirii lor şi clasificate după emitent.
