Abstract
The seriation is an important method used for classifications of archaeological data of complexes and material at Gornea site from Vinĕa culture, in south Banat, in Iron Gorges at Danube valley. The archaeological data are presented as a contingency table (or matrix). To a contingency table wr can also associate a correlation coeficient. The seriation of this table means to interchange the rows and columns such that the new table has nonnul frequencies on and around the principal diagonal and the correlation coefficient is maximum. Mathemalical melhod of prof. Petcr Ihm is presented and was used to write a Turbo-pascal program for seriation. The dendrogram and factorial analysis, presented from Frențiu (1985; 1988), were also used for archaeological data classification.
