Abstract
The author argues the necessity of the apart research of the small pots and mentioned the reasons: a) the specific functionality of the small vessels (keeping the medicines, in the magic, cult etc.) regardless of formal similarity or identity with the “normal” dimensions or large pots; b) the existence of some forms unmeet at the large vessels; c) the complex decoration (geometric, and figurative) and the inscriptions discovered on some small pots.
The essential criterion used for separation of the vessels are the dimensions. The author proposes to include in this category vessels with the height or diameter until 6 cm. For the same pot one of the two parameters are not greater than 1/2 of the mentioned maximum dimension.
The exemplification is made through an ample presentation of the decoration on a small pot from an archaeological complex with 15 small vessels and a fibula discovered at Dumbrava (com. Ciurca, Iași county). At the same time the author presents some aspects about the methodology of the research, the ornament, the thematic of the imagistic, comments on the short inscriptions. On the whole, the inscriptions and the image form a new important source for the knowledge of the history of the Geto-Dacians and the history of some foreign peoples in Geto-Dacian medium for a long time.
