Abstract
On the basis of ten theses, potentials but also problems of an archaeology of the 19th to the 21st century are shown and brought up for discussion. The author regards the archaeology of contemporary past as a vital part of a global archaeology, which is embodied in monument conservation practice and its administrative and legal framework in Germany and which is increasingly gaining importance whithin the museum landscape.
