Akteure des Wandels: das Beispiel der sog. Area Sacra des Largo Argentina in Rom

Abstract

The present contribution deals with the change of architectures of sanctuaries through individuals, who used them for representational purposes and thus altered both the spatial organization and looks of the buildings. Religion is here understood as a cultural system, sanctuaries as part of material culture. To highlight these issues the focus centers on one example: the so-called Area Sacra of the Largo Argentina in Rome during Late Republican and Roman Imperial times.
