Abstract
The FAIR principles, the complex requirements of the LIDO and CIDOC CRM data exchange formats as event-based documentation standards for object information, and portal-specific requirements pose significant challenges to cultural data collectors, particularly in the fields of classical studies and archaeology. In order to meet these challenges, practical guidelines are needed to ensure unambiguous information and sufficient data quality at a minimal level. The Minimum Record Recommendation for Museums and Collections, which is compatible with relevant documentation standards, provides an essential starting point. It defines the smallest possible intersection of relevant data elements that represent a common minimum across disciplines to ensure consistent and high-quality data in object documentation and facilitate the successful consolidation of cataloguing information. The data elements of the recommendation are elaborated in more detail in a structured form on the individual data element pages. The recommendation also serves as an important point of reference for NFDI4Objects and is already being used there in various ways, e.g. in the context of documentation for the proof of ownership of objects and in the field of restoration, conservation and monument preservation. It has also already been implemented as an entry template in museum-digital.
