Die Neolithisierung Europas - Modelle und Hypothesen

Abstract

The spread of the Neolithic mode of production undoubtedly constitutes an important step for mankind. Therefore, generations of scientists were fascinated by this topic, for more than 100 years. Thus, numerous approaches of explaining this process were developed in the course of the last decades. Especially in Europe, extremely variable and even contradicting concepts can be found. This can, however, not only be explained by the regionally differing archaeological data. On closer examination it becomes rather clear, that their development has also been influenced by numerous other, nonarchaeological factors which again shows clearly the conditions of archaeological interpretation.
