Abstract

The article describes the production of honey cakes in ancient Egypt, based on scenes from bakeries shown in the tombs of Rekhmira and Rameses III. The different activities of ancient bakers are discussed. Honeycakes were used in ceremonies of the temple and funerary cults. They were, however, a privilege for government officials and priests. The use of honey cakes in daily life is
investigated.
