Das EU-Projekt ARCHES und sein Handbuch zur archäologischen Archivierung

Abstract

To facilitate cross-border pre- and protohistoric research in Europe, but also for orientation within different documentary and archiving systems, it is useful and necessary to structure terms and concepts of archaeological archives and put them on a comparable basis. The aim is to have all archaeological projects result in a permanently stable, ordered, and accessible archive. Suggestions and assistance are provided by “A Standard and Guide to Best Practice for Archaeological Archiving in Europe” presented here, which has been prepared by the international working group ARCHES of the EAC in the years 2012-2014.
