Abstract

This contribution illustrates based on a reported experience and comparable examples the dimensions which (self-?) exploitation reaches in the university sector at professorial level. This leads to massive psychological and physical burdens which sadly in particular cases can lead to premature deaths, whether due to medical conditions caused or exacerbated by excessive workloads or by suicide. The employers – practically always academics themselves who have changed career paths from teaching and research positions into university management – disregard severely their legal duties to care for the health and safety of their employees by ignoring working time regulations.
