Abstract

This article reports on a test of ChatGPT's ability to translate Latin and Ancient Greek texts. First, the AI was questioned to assess its current capabilities and limitations, and to gain insight into how it works. Subsequent translation tests confirmed ChatGPT's assessments. They also demonstrate that ChatGPT can now provide useful working translations.
