Donauschifffahrt im Ingolstädter Becken in römischer Zeit – von der Rekonstruktion bis zur Reisezeit

Abstract

The paper deals with the reconstruction of a water-dominated river landscape in the Ingolstadt basin in Roman times and the question of how to simulate travel times at that time. For this purpose, performance data of reconstructed Roman military ships were combined with the conditions of an ancient river system with the aim of obtaining realistically quantifiable forecasts for Roman inland navigation.
