Abstract

For visual analysis of large numerical simulations on mobile devices, we introduce a remote parallelizable visualization method for low-bandwidth and high-latency networks. Based on a mathematical model for multi-layered planar impostor representation of arbitrary complex and unbounded scenes, we derive optimal impostor placement from a derived metric. Using stochastic usage models, we prove the optimal bandwidth consumption order for choosing corresponding viewport impostor sets, leading to bandwidth-efficient remote visualization concepts for high performance computing simulation results.
