Abstract

Developed by scientists from different disciplines the position paper “Cornerstones for an ethically and legally informed practice of Whole Genome Sequencing” was published in a second, updated edition. The first edition published in 2013 already contributed to a critical discussion of the ethical and legal issues raised by whole genome sequencing, both in the public media and in the academic community. The position paper, which in its new edition considers the latest developments in the discussion, emerged from the project "Ethical and Legal Aspects of Whole Genome Sequencing" (EURAT) located at the Marsilius Kolleg of the Heidelberg University.
