Abstract
This paper aims at developing a typo-chronological model of the curved beakers of the Single Grave Culture in northern Germany that could form the basis of a detailed chronological differentiation allowing a discussion of historical processes. In a first step the absolute chronology of Single Grave Culture burials with beakers in northern Jutland (Denmark) is established and compared to northern Germany. The incorporation of radiometric data into typological analyses and a model of 14C-dates from graves in the northern German region are then integrated into this chronological sequence. The result is an absolute chronology of the development of types of curved beakers in northern Germany between 2900 and 2150 cal BC fixed to the absolute chronology of the burial inventories of the Single Grave Culture in northern Jutland between 2750 and 2330 cal BC.
