About the Journal
The journal ‘Der Antike Sudan. Mitteilungen der Sudanarchäologischen Gesellschaft zu Berlin e. V.‘ (MittSAG) has been published annually since 1994. MittSAG publishes articles on the archaeology, history and culture of (ancient) Sudan. Among other topics, it provides information about projects supported by the Sudan Archaeological Society Berlin (SAG e.V.) (https://www.sag-online.de/) and projects in Sudan in which SAG members are involved. A regular feature is the publication of the annual ‘Fritz Hintze Lecture on Sudanese Archaeology’ in the following year's issue. 'Der Antike Sudan' (MittSAG) is an internationally renowned publication and accordingly attracts not only a wide readership but also contributions from scholars from all over the world. Current excavation results are presented alongside the latest findings on cultural history.
Since 2018, submitted articles have been subject to a review process by a scientific advisory board.
The print publication (including older volumes) can be ordered via the Sudan Archaeological Society Berlin (https://www.sag-online.de/) and mail@sag-online.de. Currently, the online edition is published with a moving wall of two years.
