Literaturstraße. Chinesisch-deutsche Zeitschrift für Sprach- und Literaturwissenschaft

About the Journal

Since its inception and through to the present day the Literaturstraße has been the only German-language publication forum for Chinese scholars of German language and literature studies. The periodical is connected to yearly symposia; the language of all papers presented there is exclusively German. Up until the year 2016, the journal was listed under the title Literaturstraße. Chinesisch-deutsches Jahrbuch für Sprache, Literatur und Kultur.  The German-based Fritz Thyssen Foundation provided exceptional funding for the project over a 15-year period from 2001 to 2015, covering not only the publication and the symposia, but also several library subsidies for German Departments at Chinese universities. The Literaturstraße was listed over several years, starting with 2005, under the Foundation’s “Projects in Focus”. The Alexander von Humboldt Foundation also supported the Chinese-German collaboration project from its beginning in 2000. In 2016, after 15 years of funding from the Fritz Thyssen Foundation, the project Literaturstraße took a new direction and is now funded by the Chinese cooperation partners.

In 2003, the Yearbook Literaturstraße changed its publishing house from the People’s Literature Publishing House in Beijing to Königshausen & Neumann in Würzburg. Starting in 2017, Literaturstraße will appear twice a year under the new title Chinese-German Journal for Languages and Literature (Chinesisch-deutsche Zeitschrift für Sprach- und Literaturwissenschaft) in two volumes with Königshausen & Neumann in Würzburg.

The alteration in financial support as well as the changing to a biannual publication both mark a caesura in the project’s history. Its visibility, though, will be considerably heightened by digital access. After prior consultation with publisher Dr. Johannes Koengishausen the volumes will be digitally published with a moving wall of two years.

Digital publication of individual articles will only occur  with the author’s explicit consent. Previous volumes are to be found in the archive (section). If an article is listed in the table of content but does not show up digitally, it is due to a lack of consent from the author.

Prof. Dr. Gertrud M. Rösch as editor responsible for digitalisaton has endeavoured to contact  all authors from the year 2000 onwards. In some cases this was unsuccessful despite repeated efforts. The editor therefore asks respective colleagues for consultation concerning their agreement to digital publication.
