Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect document file format.
  • For each reference, a valid DOI has to be provided. References will be checked.
  • The text could be double-spaced or 1,5 line spacing; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed at the end. Please, don't use footnotes.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the APA guidelines (Version 7).
  • The reviewers are typically not blind regarding the authorship of the manuscript. On special request, blind review of the submitted manuscript can be offered. Please contact one of the editors.
  • The use of AI must be disclosed in a separate section. The AI statement should include references for each AI tool and the purpose for which it was used. We follow the APA policy on the use of generative artificial intelligence (AI) in scholarly materials (https://www.apa.org/pubs/journals/resources/publishing-policies).
  • List all authors and their affiliations (plus country) during the submission process. Please also list this information in the manuscript in a separate title page if you prefer a blind review.

Author Guidelines

During the last few years, the number of submissions has steadily increased, some of them heavily AI-assisted. As we envision this trend continuing and, due to our limited time, we can devote to the journal (it is extra work in addition to our usual jobs), we decided to change the submission format.

Research papers (regular papers (around 5000 words), brief reports (around 3000 words)

These submissions should include a quantitative or qualitative study based on the scientific standards in the field. Please also note that the introduction should cover the current state-of-the-art in this specific area, as science can only progress if new evidence is built on the shoulders of the predecessors. If these criteria are fulfilled, the submission will undergo a formal peer-review process.

Letter to the editors (around 1500 words, no tables, abstract of 50 words)

These submissions will not be peer-reviewed but will be checked by the editors for clarity and their contribution to the field of dream research.

Invited Reviews/Theoretical papers

If you are interested in submitting a review or theoretical paper, please first send a description of the kind of literature you plan to review and an abstract of the planned paper to the editors. We will then decide whether we can accept the submission, which will then undergo peer review.

 

Book/Media Reviews

These submissions will also not be peer-reviewed and checked by the editors for clarity and style.
