The Main Altarpiece of St Nikolai in Stralsund
The main altarpiece in the St Nicolai church in Stralsund presents an important evidence of North German baroque art. It is inseparably connected to Andreas Schlüter – famous architect at the Prussian court. The investigation into the early altarpiece provided informative news about the sculptors and painters who participated in its manufacture. In addition, a new assessment of questions to unusual materials and technologies could be achieved.
