The Conservator’s Action in Case of Mould on Polychrome Wodden Objects. Examples of Systematic Approach

A systematic approach is necessary in order to effectively treat mould on polychrome wooden objects. In this paper five case studies illustrate the systematic approach to the restoration and conservation of objects affected by mould, which was developed by the authors during their many years of practical experience. It entails preliminary examination, establishing the cause, interdisciplinary cooperation with microbiologists as well as the practical treatment of mould.
