The Alb in the Museum Schnütgen, Cologne History of the Object and Presentation
The alb in the collection of the Museum Schnütgen is one of the few surviving liturgical undergarments from the Middle Ages. The following contribution examines the object’s history, the extensive conservation measures of the 1970s and the resulting difficulties, and shows solutions for a present-day form of presentation that adequately meets the object’s needs.
