Abstract

We have seen Nothing! Notes on the Use of Infrared-Reflectography
The paper summarizes years of experiences. It intends to draw attention to the entire spectrum of applicability for examining paintings in the field of infrared rays. Suggestions are made regarding areas of further possible applications. It begins by making practical recommendations for the use of filters and light sources. Using case studies, possible analyses of the state of and judgments about painting techniques with infra-red reflectographies are discussed. It continues with suggestions for identifying drawing instruments and case studies for style analysis. The procedural method will be demonstrated by results of examinations and research projects and should stimulate participation in such projects.
