Abstract
If art historical interpretations and technological findings are misleading – the so called “Luxuria-Group” of the Berliner Skulpturensammlung
In 1962 the Staatlichen Museen zu Berlin acquired the “Minneszene” which has stirred controversies concerning its authenticity since purchase negotiations. This example, a sculpture that pretends to be from the French-flemish area around 1320/30, ought to point out how important a close interdisciplinary co-operation between art historians, restorers and scientists is, especially for the clarification of questions of authenticity. In that way it could be shown for the first time that the “Minneszene” is a fake produced in the 19th century.
