Der problematische Umgang mit lichthärtenden Dentalmassen in der Porzellanrestaurierung

Abstract
Problems in the use of light-setting dental resins in the restoration of porcelain.
After a general examination of light-setting composites on the basis of selected literature and investigations by the author, it is shown that products of this group of materials do not appear suitable for the restoration of museum objects. The technical specifications of “Restaurit” as published by the manufacturer will be outlined. “Restaurit” is a colour modified dental composite which is hardening by light. It has been recommended for completing voids in porcelain. With its unacceptable polymerization shrinkage, its unsatisfactory reversibility and its inadequate resistance to aging, this material is not in accordance with the requirements of the E.C.C.O. Professional Guidelines.
