Making a Qaladam with Persian Lacquer Painting – An Art Technological Project at the Dresden Hochschule für Bildende Künste (Academy of Fine Arts) Dresden
A Persian Qalamdan (a writing casket) of the 19th century, owned by the Ethnologisches Museum Berlin, is the central object of this article. Two manuscripts of about 1600 and recent research papers form the basis for experiments. They offer information on papier-caché as a support and on miniature painting as an art technology using Persian lacquer.
