Abstract

Roman houses with foundations of so called basestones in the vicus of Lahr-Dinglingen
The ground plans of houses from excavations of Roman settlements are numerous and well-known. There are several different types. In the vicus of Lahr-Dinglingen foundations with so called base stones were found allowing a precise and new possibilty of reconstruction. Following the findings of posts and base stones a podium style of building can be established. This style seems to pass on Iron Age-Celtic traditions.
