How to Deal with a Fragment. The Newly Furnished Berlin Church St Nicolai, an Area of Conflict between Contemporary Care of Monuments and Museum Pedagogics
The recent new furnishing of Berlin’s earliest city parish church St Nicolai has realized new ideas about the design of an interior. The church had suffered from caving-in as a result of damage during World War II and was reconstructed as a city historic museum. Restoration, reconstruction, translocation and modern design are merging the fragmentary remains of the former liturgical furnishings into an entity which at the time is a dignified monument and an interior open for museum pedagogics.
