Abstract

Bonding Technique with Three-dimensional Objects
In the years 2008 to 2015, we had the opportunity to work on more than 45 historic cases made for imperial insignia, show-pieces and liturgical equipment from the Bavarian treasury. Today, the majority of these objects are on presentation in the Munich Residence while the cases, some of them highly damaged, are kept in storage. In conserving these cases, it was necessary to use adhesives for many different materials. The resulting wide experience in the use of these adhesives, their properties and the execution of the actual bonding are discussed in this article.
