About the Journal

„Kunstrechtsspiegel“ is the quarterly journal of the German Institute of Art and Law (Insitut für Kunst und Recht IFKUR e.V.).

It contains academic articles, current judgements, announcements for conferences and symposiums as well as news and current developments within the field of art law.

The German Institute of Art and Law (Insitut für Kunst und Recht IFKUR e.V.) has been founded in Heidelberg in 2006 by well-known exponents of art law. It is the first German institution dealing with the interface between art and law. The institute functions as a public foundation supporting scholarship, research and training concerning legal issues regarding the field of art law. Among these are the protection of cultural property (including international, European and national law), the protection of the international loan circuit between museums, restitution, archeological findings, auction law, tax law, foundation law, insurance law, media law, copyrights and exportation as well as criminal law dealing with the international trade of artworks.

The online journal „Kunstrechtsspiegel“ is published quarterly since 2007 by the chairmans of IFKUR e.V., Dr. Nicolai Kemle and Prof. Dr. Matthias Weller, Mag.rer.publ.
