Abstract

Multiplicity of Reality Concept by Leon Chwistek vs lmaginative World of Art by Leon Blaustein

The topic of the article is present the concept of reality by Leon Chwistek juxtaposed with a theory by another Polish aesthetician, Leopold Blaustein. The both concepts were developed in the same historical period; they both consider the world of a work of art, but from different points of view. The theory by Chwistek, based on his own project, constitutes an attempt to explain the specificity of various fields of art. Blaustein's idea was raised on the basis of psychological and phenomenological thinking. It also concerns the capability of imaginative thinking which is essential when developing and understanding a work of art. Although the two concepts result from different methodological backgrounds, they fully complement each other. In the following article, I will make an attempt to show that the shift of multiplicity of reality which is basically logical to psychology would allow Chwistek to create a more modern theory of art that would present an approach to understanding a work of art as an analogon, similarly to the one formulated by Jean-Paul Sartre in France in the same period of time.
