Abstract

The restoration of the halls of the Green Vault in Dresden Castle
The reopening of the Green Vault of Dresden Castle in September 2006, one of Europe’s earliest museums, brings it back to public awareness. The unity of architecture and the treasures presented inside forms a special characteristic of this ensemble created in the 18th century and destroyed at the end of World War II. The expertise and commitment of more than hundred conservators, artists and craftsmen proved important for the recovery. The short history of the building is followed by the methodology applied and the presentation of each of the halls
