Wall hangings from 230,000 feathers – a special challenge
The baroque Moritzburg Castle near Dresden holds two rare interiors; the Feather Chambre of 1723 in the château and the feather wall hangings of 1772 in the Little Pheasant Castle, a small building not far from the château. One of the elements from the Little Pheasant Castle was restored. It also served for developing a concept for the preservation and reconstruction of the complete room. It has been a long way from the concept to its completion. The complete feather wall hangings were shown to the public for the first time, also thanks to the support of the WMF (World Monument Fund).
