“To dye straw in all kinds of ways and to make all kinds of things from it“
On straw dyeing instructions of the 18th century
Based on the study of historical sources of the 18th century, attempts were made to dye straw in different colours and to further process it into straw marquetry. The reconstructions, which are mainly based on original techniques, convey an impression of the original colours, most of which have faded today, and are available for long-term observation. For this purpose, some of the dyed straws were provided with light protection.
