Abstract

Painted Metal Surfaces in the Collection of the Dresden Green Vault. Surface Treatment in the 18th Century and Today.
This paper presents the spectrum of objects with painted metal surfaces from the collection of the Green Vault. Furthermore, it evaluates a source from the 18th century, listing surface treatments of those objects during that period. In its concluding part, the article presents questions and problems which might occur with today’s conservation and restoration methods for objects with painted metal surfaces, and possible answers.
