Sustainable OJS-Infrastructure for electronic Publishing of scholarly journals – project funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG)
The aim of this project is to consolidate and raise the number of e-journal publications based on Open Journal Systems (OJS) at German universities. The project „OJS-de.net – Sustainable OJS-Infrastructure“ is a collaborative effort by Heidelberg University Library, the Centre for Digital Systems (CeDiS) at the Freie Universität Berlin as well as the Centre for Communication, Information and Media (KIM) at Konstanz University. It is financially support by the German Research Foundation (DFG). The project covers the following action items
- OJS software development: The OJS software will be optimized and adapted to current needs in the academic community. The development will focus on feedback received prior to the launch of the project as well as on future desideratum identified throughout the project.
- Analysis of OJS requirements: An online survey on OJS will support a systematic exchange with OJS users as well as identify and document their experiences with publishing e-journals in OJS.

For an English summary of the survey results see the following article. - Network: An active OJS community as well as a network of OJS professionals will be established within the German academic community. A central platform will provide relevant introductory information on publishing in OJS as well as news and events regarding the software.
- Visibility: OJS is to be further integrated into the German academic research community. The quality and visibility of OJS metadata will be improved. The project partners will support the hosting of OJS at further universities.
