Heidelberg University Library offers researchers at Heidelberg University the opportunity to publish e-journals free of charge in open access. The researchers act as editors. The University Library provides the well-established Open Journal Systems (OJS) software for this purpose. It supports the creation of new journals, ensures the sustainability of the published content and ensures the greatest possible visibility. An additional print-on-demand issue usually incurs costs (€300 + VAT per issue). The offer is aimed at academic staff at Heidelberg University.
We also offer similar opportunities for researchers worldwide via Heidelberg University Publishing (heiUP) and for the Specialized Information Services (FID) in the fields of Art and Visual Studies (arthistoricum.net), Classical Studies (Propylaeum) and Asian Studies (HASP).

Journal of Self-Regulation and Regulation [2015–2020]
Self-regulation and regulation was an open-access peer-reviewed journal serving as a potential outlet for edge-cutting interdisciplinary research on regulatory processes in individuals and organizations. It was published by the research council of Field of Focus 4 (FoF4) of Heidelberg University.
Each year, two volumes were published: one contained a collection of thematically-related articles; the second contained selected articles on different topics. In addition, the reader is informed about the diverse activities of FoF4, uniting scientists of the faculty of behavioral and empirical cultural studies, the faculty of social sciences and economics, as well as the faculty of law.The journal was closed in 2022.

The Journal of the International Association of Buddhist Studies (ISSN 0-193-600XX) is the organ of the International Association of Buddhist Studies. The JIABS welcomes scholarly contributions in all areas of Buddhist Studies. A double-blind peer-review process is used to ensure the high academic quality of all contributions. The JIABS does not publish short book reviews, but only lengthy and substantial review articles. Publishers are advised to consult with the editors before sending review copies.

Literaturstraße. Chinesisch-deutsche Zeitschrift für Sprach- und Literaturwissenschaft [2000–]
Since its inception and through to the present day the Literaturstraße has been the only German-language publication forum for Chinese scholars of German language and literature studies. The periodical is connected to yearly symposia; the language of all papers presented there is exclusively German. Up until the year 2016, the journal was listed under the title Literaturstraße. Chinesisch-deutsches Jahrbuch für Sprache, Literatur und Kultur. The German-based Fritz Thyssen Foundation provided exceptional funding for the project over a 15-year period from 2001 to 2015, covering not only the publication and the symposia, but also several library subsidies for German Departments at Chinese universities. The Literaturstraße was listed over several years, starting with 2005, under the Foundation’s “Projects in Focus”. The Alexander von Humboldt Foundation also supported the Chinese-German collaboration project from its beginning in 2000. In 2016, after 15 years of funding from the Fritz Thyssen Foundation, the project Literaturstraße took a new direction and is now funded by the Chinese cooperation partners.

Online Encyclopedia Philosophy of Nature [2019–]
The aim of the Online Encyclopedia Philosophy of Nature (OEPN) (ISSN 2629-8821) is to provide high-quality information on, and explanations of, natural-philosophical terms and subject areas and to make these freely accessible (Open Access) in German and English. There is no commercial interest.
It is planned that the Encyclopedia will have entries on over 300 concepts. These will be written by academic experts, though their intended audience is not only academics but anyone who wants to understand what nature can be for us – and who is therefore interested in the philosophy of nature.
The entries should be historical and pluralistic: they thematise selected historical changes in the concept under discussion and inform the reader as neutrally as possible (while still systematically classifying and commenting) of selected competing meanings and interpretations of the concept. In addition, authors may argue for or against certain uses of the concept – or even for a general abandonment of the concept. Terms that have significance beyond the field of the philosophy of nature, such as "spirit" and "possibility", are treated by emphasizing their specific natural philosophical meanings (without divorcing them from their broader philosophical contexts).
All published manuscripts have been subjected to a peer review procedure (blind, if possible double blind).
The lexicon is institutionally supported and financed by the Protestant Institute for Interdisciplinary Research (FEST) in Heidelberg.

Perspektive Bibliothek [2012–2020]
Perspektive Bibliothek war eine Open Access-Zeitschrift für bibliothekarische und informationswissenschaftliche Themen. In den Beiträgen nahmen angehende wissenschaftliche Bibliothekare ihr neues Berufsfeld in den Blick und präsentierten dabei ihre Perspektive auf aktuelle Fragestellungen. Die veröffentlichten Artikel hatten dabei in der Regel Überblickscharakter und unterstützten so die rasche Einarbeitung in neue Themenfelder.
Alle Autoren absolvierten die theoretische Referendarsausbildung an der Bibliotheksakademie Bayern. Grundlage für jeden Artikel war eine schriftliche Arbeit, die im Rahmen der theoretischen Ausbildung erstellt wurde. -

SFB 619: Forum Ritualdynamik [2003–2013]
Von 2002 bis 2013 untersuchte der interdisziplinäre Sonderforschungsbereich „Ritualdynamik“ (SFB 619), gefördert von der Deutschen Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG), Rituale sowie deren Veränderung und Dynamik. Er war der bislang erste und einzige kulturwissenschaftliche Sonderforschungsbereich in Deutschland, der sich ausschließlich mit dem Thema „Rituale“ auseinandersetzte. In 31 verschiedenen Teilprojekten behandelten mehr als 140 Wissenschaftler, vor allem aus dem Bereich der Kultur- und Sozialwissenschaften, ein breites Spektrum empirischer und theoretischer Fragen.
Mit der ersten Ausgabe des Forum Ritualdynamik startete der SFB 619 eine in lockerer Folge erscheinende Reihe von Einzelpublikationen im Internet. Die hier veröffentlichten Aufsätze, Essays und Thesen sollen Einblicke in die Werkstatt des SFB ermöglichen. Sie geben Auskunft über den lebendigen Prozess der Erkenntnisgewinnung, so wie er sich in Entwürfen, Gedankenexperimenten und vorläufigen Aussagen niedergeschlagen hat. Darüber hinaus war das Medium offen für die Beiträge jener WissenschaftlerInnen, mit denen sich die Mitglieder des SFBs über ritualwissenschaftlich relevante Probleme austauschten.

Studentische Zeitschrift für Rechtswissenschaft Heidelberg [2005–]
Die auf dieser Webseite einsehbare "StudZR" war die ursprüngliche Zeitschrift des StudZR e.V. Sie erschien während der Jahre 2004 bis einschließlich 2013. Zum Jahr 2014 wurde sie eingestellt und in die beiden Nachfolgezeitschriften "StudZR-WissOn" und "StudZR-Ausbildung" überführt. In ihr wurden sowohl wissenschaftliche als auch ausbildungsrelevante Beiträge veröffentlicht.

Studentische Zeitschrift für Rechtswissenschaft Heidelberg – Wissenschaft Online [2014–]
Die digital auf dieser Plattform erscheinende StudZR-WissOn (Wissenschaft Online) versammelt von Studierenden und Nachwuchswissenschaftlern verfasste Seminar- und sonstige Studienarbeiten.
Das Konzept der StudZR-WissOn ist 2014 aus der ›alten‹ StudZR (den gelben Heften) hervorgegangen, welche Fachaufsätze neben im engeren Sinne didaktischen Inhalten vereinte. Wie die weiterhin im Print verlegte Schwesterzeitschrift StudZR-Ausbildung erscheint die StudZR-WissOn zweimal jährlich.
Das Ziel der Studentischen Zeitschrift für Rechtswissenschaft Heidelberg, jungen Nachwuchswissenschaftlern ein Forum für die Erstpublikation zu bieten, war bei unserer Gründung 2003/2004 ein Novum im deutschen Sprach- und Rechtskreis. Die StudZR-WissOn wird diesem Auftrag gerecht.

Transformierte Buddhismen [2008–2011]
Die Beiträge der Zeitschrift befassten sich auf der Basis neuester Forschungsergebnisse sowohl mit historischen Prozessen als auch rezenten Entwicklungen in den verschiedenen Buddhismen. Dabei wurden lokal spezifische wie auch transkulturelle Adaptions-, Transformations- und Innovationsprozesse in den Blick genommen. Der Fokus der Beiträge lag auf Wandlungsprozessen in buddhistischen Vorstellungen, Rhetoriken, Praktiken und Ästhetiken, die durch historische und gesellschaftliche Veränderungen als auch durch den geographischen Transfer buddhistischer Ideen und Praktiken (z.B. zwischen Ost und West und umgekehrt) hervorgerufen wurden und werden.
Im Rahmen der Zeitschrift wurden für das skizzierte Themenfeld relevante Publikationen besprochen. -
Türkisch-Deutsche Perspektiven [2023–]
Die zweisprachigen Jahresbände „Türkisch-Deutsche Perspektiven“ sind eine Schriftenreihe der Kultur- und Sozialwissenschaftlichen Fakultät der Türkisch-Deutschen Universität (Istanbul), die zusammen mit der Universität Heidelberg herausgegeben wird. Sie spiegelt inhaltlich das breite Spektrum der Forschung an dieser Fakultät wider. Es sind kultur- und sozialwissenschaftliche Themen, die zumeist über die engen Fächergrenzen hinausgehen und gesellschaftliche Strukturen und Prozesse in den Blick nehmen. Die Texte stammen nicht nur von Mitarbeitenden der Fakultät in Istanbul, sondern auch der deutschen Partneruniversitäten.

Vorträge und Forschungen [1952–]
The Konstanzer Arbeitskreis für mittelalterliche Geschichte e.V. was founded in 1951 and is comprised by a group of co-opted members whose aim it is to develop important questions and approaches within the field of mediaeval studies. Twice a year the Arbeitskreis organises a conference on the island of Reichenau at Lake Constance.
The seat of the Arbeitskreis is in Constance. The minutes of every conference (including all questions and answers) can be acquired at this office. The proceedings are published in the series “Vorträge und Forschungen”, whilst select monographic studies are published in the series "Sonderbände". All of the latter are accessible online two years after their publication.
The Konstanzer Arbeitskreis is financed by the Bundesland of Baden-Württemberg. The town of Constance also contributes financially.
The collected essays and monographs of the series “Vorträge und Forschungen” have now been digitised and are offered via Internet thanks to a cooperation between the Arbeitskreis, the University Library Heidelberg and the publishers of the Thorbecke Verlag.
