Abstract

Clara Arokiasamy OBE has been an advocate for integrating race equality and anti-racist policies and practices into the protection and management of tangible and intangible cultural heritage (ICH) in the United Kingdom (UK). This is to ensure that the histories and heritages of people of colour are brought from the margins to the centre to form an integral part of the UK’s national story. She has also shared her experience and expertise internationally through her membership of international networks, including the International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS). She writes and speaks regularly on race equality and heritage, diaspora heritage and intangible cultural heritage. In kritische berichte, she provides an extensive and broad overview on Race Equality, Decolonisation and Rights Based Approach in the UK's Cultural Heritage Services.
