Intersectionality by Other Means
Jeannine Tang in Conversation with Maria Bremer and Isabelle Lindermann
Identifier (Artikel)
Abstract
In this conversation, Jeannine Tang joins Maria Bremer and Isabelle Lindermann to reflect on the evolving role of intersectionality in curatorial practice and exhibition history. Beginning with the impact of intersectional curatorial approaches on art-historical debates, particularly in relation to Asian and diasporic feminist, queer, and trans* practices, the discussion further addresses the contributions of transnational and queer feminist thought to intersectionality discourses. It then tackles the methodological challenges of applying intersectionality to exhibition history, and turns to the role of exhibitions as contested cultural sites amid the global rise of authoritarianism.
