Abstract

In this study, measurable changes, which appeared during long-time storage of archaeological waterlogged wood, were investigated. The analysed objects were remainders from the KUR-Project »Mass finds in archaeological Collections «. For this reason, the selection of samples is quite inhomogeneous concerning the types of wood and the degree of degradation. The samples were weighed and
scanned with a structured-light scanner at intervals of four years. In spite of the inhomogeneous samples, homogeneous observations could be made. The majority of the objects showed a loss of up to 5 % of mass as well as volume.
