Abstract

During excavations at Oymaağaç Höyük in 2017, a large number of exceptionally well-preserved waterlogged wooden objects were discovered in an underground spring chamber. The scientific documentation of these unique finds posed a great challenge. For the three-dimensional documentation, the method of automatic multi-image photogrammetry (Structure from Motion) was applied. Due to the high requirements of the quality as well as the photographic and conservation problems of the waterlogged wood, the documentation became quite complex and extensive. Thus, the applied solutions have exemplary character for the documentation of waterlogged wood or comparable archaeological objects.
