Abstract
Iconographic-Epigraphic Matching: A New Inscription for Herecura and Dis Pater from the Hinterland of Mainz?
The inscription presented here for the first time was found in 2019 in the area of a Roman portico villa in Stadecken-Elsheim, 15 km southwest of Mogontiacum / Mainz. Due to severe damage, not a single word of the six-line inscription text is legible. It is not possible to understand the inscription from the text. However, the composition of two seated figures above a pedestal bearing the text suggests that it is a dedication to Herecura and Dis Pater.
