Abstract

In the period between 1956 and 1958 the Oberösterreichisches Landesmuseum excavated the first Hallstatt settlement in Upper Austria. Although large parts of the find material and the documentation did not survive until today a lot can be said about this settlement. According to the remaining finds the settlement seems to belong primarily to the period Ha C. Among the objects there is a doubtlessly foreign pottery shape decorated with a red lightening motif on white clay. Such bowls appear almost exclusively in the North-East Bavarian region. Due to its fabric and typology the vessel can be clearly identified as an importation. It therefore testifies to contacts along the Danube which was an influential route of traffic and communication in the older Iron Age.
