Abstract

The bronze calotte-shaped stud with an iron loop is 3.5 cm in diameter. Though the »Lower Danube« is named as its origin, this information remains unconfirmed. The exceptionally well-preserved surface shows a triskele in the Plastic Style (3rd cent. BC). Three repetitions of the eye of a bird of prey-like animal can be recognized. Studs of this type can be used as shield fittings and as fastenings of armor; they always come from warrior graves. The origin of the presented stud from the Lower Danube seems possible.
