Abstract

In the 1970s the fragment of a drinking bowl produced in Athens about 500 BC, was found on a field close to Westhofen. The first part of the article summarises the state of research on Iron Age archaeology around Westhofen and presents new prospection work proving the original find context of the bowl as a Settlement. The second part addresses the date of the fragment and the depiction which can be completed to the representation of a Symposium in the inner centre of an early red-figure bowl.
