Früheisenzeitliche Gefäße vom Typ kernos: Versuch einer funktionalen Interpretation aufgrund eines Neufunds in Domasław (woj. dolnośląskie / PL)

Abstract

Possibilities of interpretation of the biographic method and of the GC-MS method are presented here by applying them on a vessel of the kernos type from Domasław. Appearance and function of the kernoi are described by the antique written sources (Athenaios of Naukratis); their different pottery shapes were distributed in the whole Mediterranean from the Aeneolithic onwards. The different methods of analysis are supposed to examine the vessels of the kernos type from as many perspectives as possible and to identify their function and meaning during the Early Iron Age in Central Europe, i.e. far away from the place of their origin where appearance and function had been well defined.
