Zum Vergleich der gestempelten Sigillata aus den römischen Militärlagern von Dangstetten und Oberaden

Abstract

Whereas so far the military camp of Dangstetten had been dated to the years between 15 and 9/8 BC, based on identical terra sigillata stamps Katrin Roth-Rubi has dated it five years earlier (20-before 11 BC). She argues that only 4% of the stamps found in Dangstetten have identical parallels in the dendrochronologically dated camp of Oberaden and concludes that both places cannot have existed at the same time. This article presents an examination of these 4% and the concluding rejection of the new dating on this basis.
